Gold Cap

Talk about an error message everyone wants to see, I maxed out the amount of gold a character in World of Warcraft is allowed to carry (214,748 gold, 36 silver, and 46 copper). It took a while. I was making about 2k profit a day, but it was a fun goal I had set for myself.

I did NOT hack, buy, or borrow. I did NOT buy from the auction house and jack up the price on items. What I did was very simple, I found recipes for craftable items that I could make for a profit. Seriously... look at some of the recipes on this site and compare the cost to make an item versus either the average auction house sale price or the disenchanting value of the item. There are so many items you can make for a profit that there is no need to buy gold, pay for a guide, run scams, or participate in any unethical behavior. Earning gold in WoW just isn't that hard.

Just look up recipes for your professions and see which ones other folks are making for a profit. The prices on this site are based on all servers, but should be close enough to your server's to get you started.

#1 I play to win.

Sure if some stranger is asking for gold to help with mount or training costs I’ll chip in, or if someone wants me to craft an item for them I'll do it. I’ve paid my entire guilds repair bills (end game) for months, bought more guild members their mounts then I can remember, and just give gold away at random.

My point is I’m not really greedy. I don’t sell gold. I don’t hoard an extreme amount (I’ve got around 50k on one server and 35k on another). I just play to win. If I can make an item for 10g, yes I’ll sell it for 15g, unless I think I can sell it for 20g or more. Earning gold is just another aspect of the game. Like arenas, battle grounds, and PvE; there are strategies to succeed.

#2 I’m lazy and cheap.

If I can make and sell items in the auction house and earn about 400g an hour, I’m not going to go out and farm materials for an hour, when I could buy them for 100g. It’s just not worth my time.

#3 You’re lazy.

Thank god for that. Otherwise I wouldn’t make nearly as much gold as I do. You could collect the materials to make your gear, potions, flasks and what not; then just make the stuff you need or have a friend make it for you. OK, sometimes you do, but sometimes you are in a rush and just pick it up at the auction house, even though you know you are over paying.
